Vancouver July 2nd to Ketchikan July 4th

July 2nd - Vancouver Departure

Sunny and clear for our departure. Uneventful evening - Rusty did spot our first bald eagle and sea lion.

Watched the sun go down as we headed into the Inland Passage - very beautiful.

We have some interesting dinner companions from Minnesota, Oklahoma and Maryland. As you can expect dinner was quite delicious. Rusty started with the Sea Bass and I went with the Pork Medallions. We both opted for the Chocolate Cherry Cake - yyyuuummmyyyy!

July 3rd - Sea Day

Got up early so we could enjoy the views of the Inland Passage. There were some spectacular sights. We again saw some bald eagles as well as a golden eagle. The beautiful mountain scenery was on both sides of the ship for about 6 hours. It is cold but spectacular.

July 4th - Ketchikan

We arrive @ 7:00 am. It was overcast and about 50. It sprinkled on and off all day. Had breakfast on board and then went ahsore to explore. Ketchikan is an interesting little town. Explored the shops and then went to Creek Street - definitely an interesting section of town. We took a tour of Dolly's - a former bordello. Dolly Arthur passed away at age 88 but continued to turn tricks until she was 72. Watched the 4th of July parade on Main Street - small town but cool parade, everyone participates. We are back on board and sitting in Latte-tudes watching a bald eagle soar over the dock district.

July 4th is a big deal in Ketchikan, even the dogs get in the act.
